I saw a gown I liked in one of the bridal magazines. If you don't carry it, can you order it for me? A. Yes, we can order the dress. However, frequently one of the designers we carry will have a gown that is very similar to the one you saw. We recommend that you make an appointment and come in to try on our sample dresses. If you can't find "your" dress, we can order the one from the magazine. Q. I plan to lose weight before the wedding, and I'm concerned that the gown I buy now may be too large. Should I order a smaller size gown? A. If a gown is a little large, minor alterations can make it fit perfectly. However, if a gown is too small, generally alterations cannot increase the size. Adding the stress of mandatory weight loss to the tension of wedding planning should be avoided. Order the gown in your current size. If you do lose weight, alterations will be easy. Q. How long does it take to order a gown? Will I be able to get my gown in time? A. Due to the large number of brides who are waiting for our world-class designers to get to their order, normal ordering time for a gown is three to four months. However, for unusual and emergency situations, the time can be shortened considerably. FORMALS has never failed to get a bridal gown on time for a wedding! We are there for you! Q. I am full-figured bride, will you have any sample gowns large enough for me to try on? How can I find a gown I like if I cannot see what it looks like on me first? A. FORMALS carries some designer gowns in larger sizes. We are committed to helping you select the bridal gown that fits you. Our staff of highly professional consultants can help you visualize yourself in a particular gown. Once you select your gown, we have designers who will custom make a gown for you. Come visit us, we will help you find the dress of your dreams. Q. Are alterations included in the price of the gown? A. Alterations are not included in the price of the gown. The cost depends on the extent of the alterations required. Q. I found a gown I loved. Why is it that when I was measured, the size that you are ordering for me is not the size I am used to wearing in my regular clothes? A. The first reason is that a special order gown is ordered based on a manufactures size chart. Depending on the gown, we will take the standard measurements and compare these to a Designer's size chart. The "size" that is calculated from the size chart is for reference and may not have anything to do with standard American clothing sizes. The second reason is that several years ago the rest of the women's clothing industry adjusted slightly the standard size of a size. So a 14 became a 12, and so on. The bridal industry didn't make this change so sometimes people get a little concerned when we take measurements. Please remember that a special order gown is not a "custom dress", all gowns and bridesmaids dresses will need some sort of alternations. All wedding gowns (unless you order custom length which is not part of the base price), come from the company for a women who is 5'8". Q. I usually wear a size 2 or 4. Most of the sample dresses fall of me. How can I see what the gowns should look like on. A. Most of the sample gowns in our store range in size from 8 to 12. We usually have some larger and smaller sizes as well. FORMALS bridal consultants are able to adjust the sample gowns with a series of clips so you can better visualize the fit of the gown. Q. How do I pick a bridesmaid dress to go with my wedding? A. FORMALS displays a large and varied selection of bridesmaid dress. Some brides like to the match the maids to their gown. This is not always necessary. All bridesmaids dresses are available in many color and sizes. FORMALS also has bridesmaids that are separates, allowing you to choose different tops and bottoms. Q. I am having my wedding at an LDS Temple. Do you carry modest gowns? A. FORMALS has a line of gowns made especially for the LDS bride.
